What is Talent Q?
We use the Talent Q Assessment System as it provides organisations with clear, robust and business focused assessments which are straightforward to administer and provide insightful data for both the candidates and organisation. It is backed by rigorous scientific data and has application across all sectors, functions and structural levels.
The system was founded by Roger Holdsworth who is recognised as a world authority on objective assessment, and this system combines the assessment of personality, abilities and competencies in one flexible, online and integrated system.
What does Talent Q measure?
We use two main components of the Talent Q suite of tools.
- Firstly, “Elements” for ability testing, measuring verbal, numerical and logical skills.
- Secondly, “Dimensions” for personality assessment, assessing key personality attributes in relation to work.
Both products are straightforward to administer and the reports are clear, succinct and user friendly.
Elements
Elements can be used to test for verbal, numerical and logical reasoning, with each test taking half the time of traditional ability tests - just 10-15 minutes.
The system is adaptive in nature, so is presents question sets which vary in difficulty and are targeted within the candidates own level of ability. So candidates who answer accurately are presented with increasingly complex information and questions, whereas those who take too long or answer incorrectly are presented with easier information and questions.
- Verbalis designed to measure a candidate’s ability to interpret verbal information and reach correct conclusions. The ability is important for any work involving the communication of ideas or the understanding of written information. It can also be important for work requiring analytical thinking
- Numericalis designed to measure a candidate’s ability to analyse and draw inferences from numerical information and data. Numerical reasoning ability is important for a variety of roles involving working with data
- Logical is designed to test a candidate’s ability to analyse abstract information and apply this to determine outcomes and patterns. Logical reasoning ability is important for a variety of roles requiring complex problem-solving
Elements offers substantial time efficiency compared with more traditional ability testing, is underpinned with a high levels of psychometric rigor and contains verification testing for remote use.
Dimensions
Dimensions has been developed solely for use in the workplace, is underpinned by the most rigorous scientific standards, and provides practical use and application within a business context.
It is anonline system for assessing key personality attributes in relation to work, providing a selection of profiles and reports. The core Dimensions model measures personality across three broad domains, as outlined below.
- People and Relationships is concerned with a person’s style in handling relationships at work, how comfortable they are communicating with and influencing others, and the extent to which they are supportive and effective in involving other people
- Tasks and Projects examines a person’s thinking style and how they prefer to manage tasks. It includes both how an individual analyses information and likes to work with concepts and ideas as well as how they prefer to plan and organise their work
- Drives and Emotions looks at how a person deals with their energies and emotions. It covers how a person prefers to cope with stressful situations, how adaptable they are and what drives them to perform at work
Whether you want to assess against your own competency framework or a more general set of competencies, you can assess the personality traits of the candidates and match them against the traits which are deemed to be a good match or indicator for performance in the target job.
Once again, the questionnaire takes less time to complete than many of its traditional counterparts and has a reporting suite which is robust, professional and easy to interpret.
The benefits of using Elements and Dimensions are:
- Clearly identify the best ‘fit’ candidates for the role
- Provides an objective and consistent selection process for making selection decisions
- Quickly eliminate those candidates who do not meet the requirements of the role
- Enables you to focus time and effort on those candidates who have abilities and personality traits which correlate to the role, enabling targeted training , development and support opportunities
